LEONID SHULMAN. CONDUCTOR
Nationally acclaimed, extraodinary Russian Conductor Leonid Shulman was a student of the greatest conductors of the century: Nikolay Rabinovich and Ilya Musin, whos pedagogical legacy lives on in the hundreds of his students including Yuri Temirkanov, a former director of Baltimore Symphony and a music director of St. Petersburg Phylharmonic Symphony Orchestra today.. He considers himself a devoted follower of his other teachers, gems of the world music treasury of the 20th century in beyond: Herbert von Karajan, Kiril Kondrashin. During his 35-year career, he has conducted hudreds of concerts in the former Soviet Union and present-day Russia, including Moscow and St.Petersburg. Under his baton, many pieces written by contemporary Russian composers were premiered. He has preformed with many musical legends, such as Mstislav Rostropovich, Lazar Berman, Igor Oistrakh, Bella Davidovich... Before moving to the Unites States Leonid Shulman was the Principal Conductor of the Kislovodsk Phylharmonic Symphony Orchestra (Russia) for 20 years. He continues to conduct this orchestra as a Permanent Guest Conductor. Leonid Shulman is an activist and a promoter of arts and music. His kindness and generousity brought him love and admiration of his many friends and students. This project is another gift by a great master who generously shares his talent and a professional wisdom with others. |
